Volunteering for The Crossroads Fund Annual Benefit

Hi everyone, Liane here.

Last night I got to spend the evening volunteering at the annual benefit for the Crossroads Fund. The opportunity came about when a classmate of mine, Carly, asked us if anyone would be willing to help out at her internship's event. I jumped at the chance to help out because she has been telling me so many amazing stories about the work she does at the Crossroads Fund. Please visit their website to learn more about all of the tremendous work this organization does to support Chicago organizations working to promote social equality: http://www.crossroadsfund.org/

The event was called Seeds of Change 2014, and was located at the Chicago Cultural Center. There were three parts of the evening; a silent auction held underneath the impressive A.H. Coolidge stained glass dome, a delicious array of food and drinks in the dining room, and a presentation in the theater.

Before all of the evening's guests arrived for the benefit, I had the chance to take some photographs of the space:

One of the items available in the silent auction was a hand woven basket made by ACM's very own Mary Scott Boria!

My main role volunteering was to assist Carly in the projection room during the event's presentation. The slide show used during the presentation was one of the projects that Carly did to help The Crossroads Fund prepare for their annual benefit. It was so fun to be up in the room that controlled all of the sound and lighting for the theater. Here is the view that I had while helping Carly:

It was such an amazing experience to be a part of this benefit! The night was meant to celebrate all of the hard work and dedication that all goes into the work done by this organization and all of the organizations it supports. I got to meet a wide range of people that I otherwise would never been able to. Thank you Carly for inviting met to help out at this event!!!!
